About Jumping Spiders

Jumping spiders are some of the most curious and expressive spiders you’ll ever keep. Unlike web-building species, they hunt by sight — stalking prey and pouncing with astonishing precision, sometimes leaping many times their own body length in a single jump. Their large, forward-facing eyes give them exceptional vision and a strikingly alert, almost “aware” appearance, which is a big part of why they’ve become so popular as pets in recent years.

Most jumping spiders are small, low-maintenance, and don’t require the space or equipment that larger tarantulas or reptiles do. A modest enclosure, a light misting routine, and regular feeding are usually enough to keep them thriving. That said, they’re active and inquisitive by nature, and many keepers find themselves watching their spider’s daily routine as much as any traditional pet.

If you’re new to keeping jumping spiders, our care guides walk through housing, feeding, and handling in detail — a good place to start before your first spider arrives.
